“Oh My God Becky it black history month again”
It seems that the month of February brings out the best and the worst in people. For African-Americans it’s the one-month out of the year that has been designated for the celebration of the African American people in America.

The celebration of African-Americans seems to upset some people simply because they are being celebrated. For people of color, February should not be the one-month out of the year that you celebrate your African heritage for the accomplishments your forefathers and ancestors achieved.
Overcoming the effects of slavery was and is no easy task. African-Americans must understand and know that celebrating black history is a 24/7, 365 mental state that you must have always.
Post traumatic slave syndrome is a condition that is real and haunts most African-Americans today. So remembering and celebrating the past will empower and free our future.
Let’s not allow someone else to tell us when and where we can celebrate our heritage. Celebrate black history.
