What’s Behind The Mask?

It appears that 2020 is going out with a positive bang. All year, COVID-19 has been rearing its ugly head on Americans and the rest of the world alike. The death toll is over a million throughout the world. Just when we thought there was no end in sight. Just when we thought it was almost all over. A vaccine, a miracle cure, just in the nick of time.

The CDC and the United States government have come to our rescue. In unbelievable record time, they partnered with pharmaceutical companies to create a vaccine that would save us all. 

Oh thank God for the United States government, the CDC and the pharmaceutical companies for working so hard, diligently and expeditiously to create a vaccine that would combat the COVID-19 virus and save us all. And who better to Be the guinea pigs? To take this vaccine publicly, to show the rest of the world that it’s safe as being in your mother’s arms. 

Earlier this week the announcement came across the social media platforms and all of the major news media stations. The antivirus is here the antivirus is here. Hurray! Hurray! 

Two American women of color both being in the health care profession and being essential first line responders, demonstrated how safe and easy it is to take the vaccine to fight off COVID-19. One of the women is a doctor, who administered the vaccine to the second woman who works as a nurse. While she sat comfortably awaiting for the injection. 

It went as smooth as silk. No glitches. No problems. It went according to their plan. Two trustworthy, professional, strong Women of color leading the way for the rest of the world to follow. 

Now I know the new normal in America and across the world Is social distancing. The frequency of washing hands and face covering. So at first glance, when I saw the administering of the first injection of the vaccine that’s supposed to be the cure, I didn’t Think twice. 

COVID-19 hit the US at the beginning of the year with a straight gut, sucker punch and knocked the wind out of all of us and still has us all dazed, and against the ropes. 

Standing up too quick after a gut shot and having the wind knocked out of you can leave you confused and vulnerable. Take the 8 count and catch your breath and breathe. Everything isn’t always as it seems. It’s hard to see when people are laughing in your face when they’re wearing a mask.
