A Starbucks in the city of brotherly love has recently been in the news for refusing to allow two African-American men to use their bathroom and also charged them with trespassing. It is not a uncommon situation, it just so happens that this incident escalated into those two African-American men being racially profiled and wrongfully arrested.

This was simply because of a much greater picture that we’re not looking at close enough. It doesn’t matter where it happens, but it happens way too often, more times than I can count. The Starbucks is the place today but it could be many other places in the good old United States. This happens a lot and there are no cameras to document them in most other similar situations.
The true picture in this and other situations is simply racism. One individual’s personal feelings toward a group of people that’s different from the way they are, can really indicate a lack of humanity.
I know companies have policies when it comes to public washrooms and it is normally reserved for customers only. Why is it that people have to be taught humanity?
Is it the company’s responsibility to make sure that its employees have humanity? To deny a human being the right to use the bathroom is dehumanizing. Especially if that person has patronized you’re business before and currently patronizing your business.
Rules and regulations of corporations have to be incorporated with humanity to prevent such negative situations. Could the police officers have de-escalated the situation by simply asking what they did wrong, If anything instead of just taking the word of a inhumane individual and placing them under arrest for trespassing?
Lack of humanity can cause a whole lot of negative situations that could have been prevent and resolved quietly, if we all act like humans. Smoke That Over.
