As I sit in my backyard listening to the radio and enjoying one of my favorite cigars, Just smoking things over in my mind. I heard the new song by John Legend. Never Break. It was the 2020 billboard Music Awards performance that I heard. John dedicated the song to his wife Chrissy in regards to the passing of their infant son.

Having experienced the loss of my mother a few weeks ago, I would find myself sometimes just thinking about her and missing her. Wishing I had the strong singing voice of a John legend to express how I felt. No such luck for me in that regards. So, I listen to the words he sang and  I decided to write this blog.

With everything that is going on in the world today, I know it’s hard to keep going and maintain a sense of normalcy. With an uncontrollable pandemic throughout the world, untrustworthy politicians, corrupt police officers, mass unemployment, standing in line just to buy day to day grocery items, wearing uncomfortable face masks, keeping social distancing Protocols that keep you away from your loved ones, Humans need some physical contact with their loved ones,This is just how we were created. And not to mention, for some of us self-quarantining ourselves just to try to keep your loved ones and yourself safe. It’s a lot, it’s a whole lot to bear.

John sang a song to encourage his wife and let her know that although he knew she was hurting and he was hurting too, he understood that you have to go on. You can’t let sorrow break you. We can’t let Heartbreak, sorrow, disappointment, crooked politicians, global pandemic, the loss of loved ones Or any of  that break us.

Life Has to go on. I know that’s easier said than done, but I also know it has to be done. The journey of life is a forward moving journey and you have to go on. Obstacles will occur throughout your life, some good, some bad and we still have to go on.

Endurance is what we should pray for. We have to pray for patience, understanding and endurance so that we can make it through whatever we’re going through. Having empathy and compassion for others and standing with them in their time of need will strengthen us all. This is what being a human is all about .

Smoke That Over.
