A video has gone viral this past week of a Lyft driver being harassed and disrespected by an individual who has no humanity. When I first saw the video it made me mad and I said to myself, why don’t that driver just throw him out of his car?
After I saw the video again two days later I noticed the driver, how calm he was, how tolerant he was of an individual who was in his car being totally disrespectful, evil, loud, insulting and lying to the police on him.
At first I thought this was another one of those racist individuals taking advantage of white supremacy that allows any individual to file a complaint against a black man without cause, but it was the drivers demeanor that caught my attention after seeing the video for second time.
He wasn’t yelling or threatening to drag him out of his car or displaying any of the so-called stereotypes of the angry black man. He showed true strength by resisting reacting to a knucklehead.
This was inspiring and made me proud. That in a situation like this where he would’ve been justified in reacting negatively, he chose the higher road, he chose humanity.
The driver’s name is Shawn. And I say to Shawn today bravo brother bravo. How many times are we in situations where we sometimes just lose it? I know a lot of us know how hard it is to remain calm and keep your composure in situations like this.
Humanity wins every time. After deciding to write about this I heard a young brother by the name Kalibur. This brother said it right and he said it all on his Instagram.
