It’s That Favorite Time Of The Year Again

Oh how we love this time of the year, the leaves have fallen and the snow is coming. We can always tell when we start seeing the commercials. You know the ones with the bells jingling the choirs singing and oh’ what happy faces. 

The children are laughing, singing, and dancing. Even our pets seem to be happier at this time of the year, So says the TV, That’s right. You guessed it. It’s Black Friday. Black Friday has brought more people together in the past few years. All for the sake of greed, selfishness and commercialism. 

Black Friday has become a big deal here in America. Black Friday is the new holiday before the so-called holiday. What better thing to do, right after you get finished spending time with your family and friends, have a nice warm dinner and fellowship? 

I’ll tell you what’s better. Jump up from the table before your food has digested, jump in your car and head to the nearest mall. Drive around in circles for hours looking for a parking space. Walking for blocks to get to the mall because you have to park so far away. 

Searching for items to buy for people we don’t really want to buy things for. But because the holidays are coming we feel obligated to Spend more money than we have, getting deeper in debt to show someone that we love them.  

Hoping not to get shot while waiting for a Popeye’s chicken sandwich and yet we blindly follow. What better way is there to see how people really are? After standing in line for hours after fighting over that last flatscreen television. 

After watching people yell at their children for being so spoiled and disrespectful? This is what black Friday is all about. Catering to our weakness and our guilt. Don’t be led astray by the black Friday pimps. They are only there to entice your greed and multiply your guilt. 

So do yourself a big favor and stay home with your family and friends. Finish watching the game and telling that story. Finish spending time with the people that you love. While you have them all together, tell them you love them too. There is no better gift than the gift of love it’s free. 

Smoke that over.
