Those of us who are in the know, know that the game of life for some of us is played with a stacked deck. Knowing this, puts those who are in the know in very stressful situations. Knowing that onlookers may perceive us as weak and scared. Nothing is further from the truth. In fact, the opposite is known to be true by those in the know.

It takes courage, wisdom and strength to play this game of life. Knowing that the evolving rules for you keep changing, as you move forward in life. Hurtles and obstacles are placed strategically in your path, to hinder you from making it through life. It is unfortunate. But for some of us, this is life, as some of us have to experience it.

Standing face to face with the enemy. Never letting on that you know, so you play the game. You smile. You laugh. You humble yourself. Because Life is all about survival. You do what you have to do, to protect your family and to maintain your piece of mind.

Self-preservation is our natural desire to survive. If we survive, our family and loved ones survive and teach our family how to survive, so that they can teach their children. The game of life is chess not checkers. Those of us who are in the know, know that sometimes there has to be some sacrifices. Implementing maximum false enthusiasm for the greater good.

We know what that’s all about telling your son or daughter that you love those yellow and blue socks that they bought you for your birthday….

Of course I love Them. They are great thank you.

No that dress doesn’t make you look too small or too large. You look perfect.

Yes sir officer, this is my car and I do live at that address that’s on my driver’s license.

Those of you who are in the know, know where I’m going with this. It gets deeper and deeper. It’s not necessary to tell your little son or daughter that you don’t like yellow and blue socks. It’s not necessary to tell your wife that the dress is a little tight or maybe too loose.

Although, the many unnecessary questions that a police officer may ask you, in a racially profiled stop, no matter how much you want to say, it’s none of your damn business and why did you pull me over in the first place, and why wouldn’t the address on my driver’s license be my place of residence. So, knowing when to exercise humility, wisdom and show some grace, may look like you’re being weak to outsiders.

But, You know it’s You. Controlling every aspect of every situation that could be threatening to your way of life and you make the right decision regardless of how minimal the situation is or life threatening it’s you.

It’s all about life and survival and you do what you do for your family and loved ones. The strength it takes to be on all the time it’s very stressful on anyone. Some of us can take it more than others. But we still get tired.

Maximum false enthusiasm takes a lot out of you, But We do it for our loved ones. We do it to maintain our standard of living. We do it for our survival.

Smoke That Over.
