While visiting my favorite coffee shop, Kusanya Café in Englewood, I accidentally impeded a police officer who was serving and protecting a fellow citizen. For this, I must apologize to Officer John Doe.
Here you were, performing your sworn duty to uphold the law and protect the community, while I—unknowingly—intruded upon the situation. I was unaware that my presence was both unwelcome and unwarranted.
As I watched this young officer un-debacle my unintended interference, he quickly reassessed the situation and flawlessly carried out his duties by de-escalating the matter, ensuring that everyone remained safe.
Thanks to the dedication and professionalism of the men and women in blue, who stand on the wall 24/7, watching over us so we can sleep soundly at night. My hat goes off to all those officers.
And to you, Officer John Doe—great job. Englewood can rest assured that you are one of the good ones. You’ll be chief one day; I guarantee it.
