In the blue corner we have all our years of education, preparation and plans for the career we dreamed of since we were kids. Tens of thousands of dollars we invested in ourselves. Student loans and personal loans we are obligated to pay back. Long and hard workweeks, with barely enough pay to make ends meet.
Three or four mouths to feed, clothe and keep a roof over their head. Dealing with greedy corporations and unfair bosses. Hoping and praying that the job we have will provide medical insurance for you and your loved ones. With all that you have and love riding on a job that could be taken away at the drop of a hat. We have the dead end job that we scratched and fought for that cost us more than we ever imagined.
In the red corner we have an invisible force that makes us see things the way they are supposed to be. A force so strong it makes us care about each other and do the right thing and do what’s best for everyone. A force that allows us to love one another like brothers and sisters. We Have Our Humanity!
I sometimes wonder in light of recent events in our so call great country, how we can justify our actions simply because we had a job to do. Regardless of what the task may be sometimes we take no thought in doing something that is so inhumane that we justify it by saying it’s our job.
Like when police officers opened fire on unarmed men and women and shoot them in the back 10 or 12 times. Or when a border patrol agent separates a child from his or her mother or father without any human regard simply because they were told by a supervisor or someone in a high position.
Like a president who would created a new rule all of a sudden to hold someone or something hostage to force someone else to do something they wanted done. Like force the Democrats to incorporate the funding for a border wall {which will cost the American people almost $100 billion dollars}. So you approve the budget and I will allow the dreamers to stay.
We are not robots, we sometimes have to take the stand for humanities and just say I will not do this thing that will cause harm to another human being even though my job description may require me to.
